I would have recurring visions or nightmare of being at the site of a plane crash. Not on the plane, but standing on the ground and watching as a plane lost control then careered into the ground.
Bits of metal and dust and bodies would fly past my ears and the ground would shake and there would be heat, but in Hollywood movie slow motion special effect style I would stand in the middle and just feel the horror of what I was witnessing but not part of.
I drew them as a child would both because I wanted to use my art to shape my thoughts, to diminish it's message, but also because a plane is a difficult thing to draw. It is kind of an acceptance of my own limitations.
