I thought I was a gnu from a 1970s nature documentary narrated by David Attenborough in the 1970s. I would see them, crossing a river with their arse in the jaws of a crocodile or lion or with their guts being eaten by hyenas still trying to carry on, still getting up and fighting back.
The gnu became my spirit animal. Ugly, ungainly, unprobable somehow and totally unstoppable.
